Wind protection with roller shutters
The curtains of the roller shutter are reinforced with a metallic frame, which telescopes following the rolling up or down of the roller shutter.
The device offers superior strengthening towards external wind loads and applied stresses.
Strengthening system of the surface of closed-type metallic roller shutters towards externals wind loads.
Implementation: The closed type metallic roller shutters, generally used as industrial doors, are easily fitted in every place. Furthermore they present long lifetime while keeping the cost low.
The only disadvantage is the limited strength to the external wind loads on account of the elasticity that the outer surface of the roller shutter presents when it is lowered or closed.
As the increases, the wind can remove the roller shutter out of the drivers resulting in failure or damage.
Various systems have been reported to protect against wind loads, as special hooks at the bottom bar of the roller shutters that move in drivers. There is a massive disadvantage in those systems because:
- The hooks do not have adequate strength to hold the huge wind loads that develop.
- When wind loads are exerted, τhe adhesion of hooks to drivers increases resulting in a movement difficulty of the roller shutter particularly when the wind is strong.
- Hooks prevent the coiling thus promoting potential engagement of the roller shutter with the side parts (hoods, etc.)For the above mentioned reasons, we present our own system for protection against wind loads.
